Honey & Holidays

Zina and I were talking about the two honeys available for purchase from the Garden of Eve webstore and she told me how she gives gifts of honey for the holidays. She agreed to write a piece for us.Thx, Zina --Kevin

Honey and the Jewish Holidays

Rosh Hashanah is the time of rejoicing and introspection, and is the Jewish New Year.  A specific holiday tradition is eating apples and honey.  We dip apples into honey to represent our wishes for a sweet  New Year.

We celebrate the High Holidays beginning with Rosh Hashanah followed by Yom Kippur -a day of fasting and atonement -followed by Sukkot – celebration the dwelling of Israelites in huts during their 40 years in the desert.  Gratitude, appreciation and rejoicing are major themes of the holiday.  Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are the culmination of the High Holidays.

Please enjoy the HONEY available from Garden of Eden Farms - a very appropriate gift to anyone’s celebrating the holidays. !!!

Rosh Hashanah starts sunset 9/29, ends nightfall 10/1
Yom Kippur starts sunset 10/8, ends nightfall 10/9
Sukkot starts sunset 10/13, ends  nightfall 10/20
Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah starts sunset 10/20 and ends nightfall 10/22
